Dodona Manor - Former Home of General George Catlett Marshall

"This is Home - a real home after 40 years of wandering."

General George C. Marshall speaking of Dodona Manor

Located in historic Leesburg, Virginia, Dodona Manor was George and Katherine Marshalls' residence from 1941 until the General's death in 1959. During this period Marshall served as U.S. Army Chief of Staff; Special Emissary to China; Secretary of State; Secretary of Defense; President of the American Red Cross; and United States representative to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth. His name is forever linked to the post-World War Two European Recovery Act, better known as the Marshall Plan.

The George C. Marshall International Center

Headquartered within Dodona Manor, the George C. Marshall International Center works to preserve and advance the enduring legacy of George Catlett Marshall by interpreting and propagating its relevance to our time.

The Center fulfills its mission by interpreting Marshall's authentically-restored beloved home, Dodona Manor; presenting educational outreach programs and curriculum development for teachers and students of American and World history; offering popular and scholarly education programs, special exhibitions, and community events that relate to the promotion and enhancement of the Marshall legacy of character, integrity, leadership, dedication, and modesty; and providing a venue for the interdisciplinary discussion and analysis of contemporary issues that promote World Peace consistent with the principles and objectives of the Marshall Plan.

Situated on the edge of Leesburg's historic district, the Center serves as the doorway between eastern and western Loudoun County, uniting the business and cultural interests of this vibrant region, while providing an important link to the international community of Washington D.C. and the 16 nations of the Marshall Plan.

The George C. Marshall International Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that relies on a combination of memberships, donations, and public/private grants to fund its mission, and to maintain the manor house and grounds.

Operations of the Center are managed by six staff members including an Operations Manager, Tour and Events Coordinator, Docent Coordinator, Finance Director and a Special Projects Consultant. The Center has approximately 40 volunteers who are expertly trained to handle tours and other functions.

Overall direction is provided by a 24-member Board of Directors. While most members are from the Washington D.C region, the Board also has international representation from Germany and Holland.
