House and Senate Approve NPS Designation for Dodona Manor

The Marshall Center is deeply grateful to Congressman Suhas Subramanyam and Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner for their leadership in advancing legislation to designate the George C. Marshall House at Dodona Manor as a National Park Service Affiliated Area.

The legislation, which recently passed in the House of Representatives and the Senate, would make existing NPS resources available to support preservation, accessibility improvements and expanded educational programming at the site. It now goes to the President for final consideration.

This milestone advances the preservation of one of America’s most significant leadership landmarks — the home where General George C. Marshall lived from 1941–1959 and continued shaping history through public service, diplomacy and civic leadership.

“The increased visibility and subject matter expertise enabled through the NPS designation will ensure that generations to come will benefit from learning of General Marshall's sterling example and outstanding character. The timeless values of selfless service, unwavering integrity and visionary leadership are experienced by all visitors to the historic site, and we are exceptionally excited about the future in partnership with the National Park Service,” said Tom Greenspon, former Marshall Center Board Chairman.

We also extend special thanks to former Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, whose advocacy was instrumental in laying the groundwork for this designation.
