Character at Work: The George C. Marshall Ethical Leadership Professional Seminar series is designed for cohorts of up to 20 emerging leaders. The seminar is the latest offering in the center’s Ethical Leadership Program and leverages the three pillars of Marshall’s approach to leadership: Selfless Service, Unwavering Integrity and Visionary Leadership.

The seminar is held in two sessions. During the first session, participants are introduced to George C. Marshall and his leadership example. By learning about and discussing seminal events in Marshall’s life, participants are able to see the pillars at work and discuss how they might apply to their lives and careers. Attendees also share reflections on how they have seen the pillars demonstrated in their work lives.

During the second session, attendees engage in a tailored, scenario-based exercise in which they apply the pillars to a real-world business situation. The scenarios are developed through discussions with representatives of the companies or organizations that organize the training, to ensure they are relevant and challenging for attendees.

The session concludes with the sharing of individual promise statements, which help the attendees leave with a sense of mission and action regarding the integration of the pillars into their professional lives.
