HOT CHOW REACHES GIs IN THE ARDENNES FOREST — DECEMBER 1944

As Christmas approached in 1944, thousands of GIs were pinned down in the Ardennes forest by German forces who had launched a final desperate counterattack, now known as the Battle of the Bulge. At this dark hour, General George C. Marshall helped ensure GIs had hot meals to sustain them through the bitter cold and fierce fighting. As we celebrate the holidays eighty year later, we remember the courage of those who served our nation so that we may live in peace and freedom.
