Ellen LeCompte with her husband

We are excited to share the newest in a series of profiles of Marshall Center members who generously support our mission of bringing to life the timeless values of selfless service and unwavering integrity to develop visionary leaders worldwide.

Meet Ellen LeCompte, a dedicated member of The Order of St John since 2012 and former Regional Chair for the Richmond region (2016–2020). A lifelong Anglophile and recognized travel advisor and UK expert, Ellen has combined her passion for history, preservation and British culture into her professional and volunteer pursuits.

What moved you to become a member of the Marshall Center?

Our family connection: Mrs. Marshall was friends with my grandmother and Molly Winn (Marshall’s stepdaughter) and Kitty Winn with my Aunt, Mary Metzger, as they all served on committees.

I grew up with wonderful personal stories of General Marshall and his family. Powell Harrison was a close family friend and when he led the efforts to make Dodona Manor a museum honoring Gen. Marshall, of course I was happy to join in. As the Center grew and offered lectures by biographers, I read several of them as I really didn't know that much about his professional life, more just as a neighbor, and found them inspiring. I was in awe of his humble dedication and commitment to honor and country.

Of all the work the Marshall Center does, what resonates most with you and why?

I love that the Center works to instill General Marshall’s integrity and principles in the younger generation and to be a platform for international leadership development.

Thank, you Ellen for your support of the Marshall Center and our mission!
